SMS Address Requests: How Opt‑In Works
Postie is a mobile app operated by Ready Get LLC that lets people mail real, printed postcards made from their photos. This page documents exactly when Postie sends a text message, how consent is collected before any text is sent, and how to stop messages at any time. It exists so that anyone — including carriers and messaging reviewers — can verify our SMS program without needing the app.
Postie sends SMS from +1 (463) 287‑5231. Messages are sent only for one purpose: collecting a mailing address from a postcard recipient, at the request of a friend who is sending them a postcard. Postie sends no marketing, promotional, or recurring texts, and mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
The full flow, step by step
1. A Postie user asks to send you a postcard
A sender composes a postcard in the Postie app and picks a recipient from their own phone contacts. If they don't have the recipient's mailing address, Postie offers to request it — by email, or by text if the contact has a phone number.
2. The sender affirms they have permission to text you
Before any text can be sent, the sender must affirm, per recipient, at checkout:
☐ I know [recipient's name] personally and have their permission to text them.
An order that would send a text cannot be placed without this affirmation. If it is not given, the address request goes out by email only.
3. You receive one invitation — with no link
The first and only unsolicited message is a single invitation that identifies Postie, explains why we're texting, and asks for your explicit opt‑in. It contains no links:
Postie: Jamie is sending you a postcard and needs your mailing address. Reply JOIN and we'll text you a secure link. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.
If you don't reply, that is the end: the request expires after 7 days and no further texts are sent.
4. You reply JOIN — that is the opt‑in
Only if you reply JOIN do we send anything more. You first receive a confirmation:
Postie: You're confirmed — we'll text you a secure link to add your mailing address for your incoming postcard. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to cancel.
followed by one transactional message with a secure, expiring link to a web form where you can enter your mailing address:
Hi Alex! Add your address to receive Jamie's postcard: https://app.trypostie.com/a/example Reply STOP to opt out.
That's the whole program: at most one invitation per request, and a link only after you ask for it.
Stopping messages
Reply STOP (or CANCEL, QUIT, OPTOUT, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOPALL, REVOKE, END) to any message and you will receive one final confirmation:
You have successfully been unsubscribed. You will not receive any more messages from this number. Reply START to resubscribe.
Opt‑outs are recorded against your phone number and honored permanently, across every future request from any sender. Reply HELP or INFO at any time for assistance.
The fine print
- Message frequency: varies; only ever one unsolicited message — the invitation. If you reply JOIN, you receive the opt‑in confirmation and the address link; if you don't, nothing more is sent.
- Message and data rates may apply.
- No marketing. Every message is transactional, tied to a specific postcard a specific person is sending you.
- No third‑party sharing. Mobile numbers and opt‑in data are never sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
